P Cygni : une étoile à atmosphère en expansion

Objectifs et modélisation :

C'est super-géante bleu, sa masse est de 30 fois celle du Soleil et elle est 630 000 fois plus lumineuse. Elle brûle sont énergie très rapidement et sa structure est instable. Sa luminosité moyenne est 4.8, mais elle varie habituellement de +- 0.5 magnitude sauf à de rares exceptions. Donc sa luminosité est divisée par 2.5 entre le maximum et minimum.
Remarque : le 19 mai 2007, recrudessence de l'activité de P Cygni notifiée par l'AAVSO.
